December 1, 2023-Water Authority Saves Money and Water in Three-Party Water Deal
I am OMWD’s representative on the San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors. On December 1, the Authority announced a landmark water exchange designed to boost water levels in Lake Mead (saving Colorado River Water and combating upward pressure on wholesale water rates). November 30, 2023- Association of California Water Agencies Conference
This week, I attended the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) statewide conference. The photo below is from the keynote address by California Secretary for Environmental Protection Yana Garcia. I attended conference programs, including updates to state ethics laws, water project financing agreements, and lawsuits against manufacturers of chemicals contaminating specific drinking water resources. It’s also a great way to meet other water agency directors and other water professionals to share ideas.

October 28, 2023- Colorado River Aqueduct Tour
On October 27th and 28th, I attended an inspection tour of the Colorado River Aqueduct system sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District. It started at Hoover Dam and ended at the aqueducts that supply water to our farmers, homes, and businesses. It gave me a great appreciation for what it takes to provide reliable water supplies to our communities. Thanks to the women and men who keep it going 7/24.
