April 24, 2022 - Angel's Landing- Zion National Park
Zion National Park in Utah is one of the wonders of the world. Angel’s Landing is Zion’s most challenging hike, but the view at the top is worth it. The hike is so popular that the Park Service requires permits provided by lottery. A somewhat cold morning on Sunday, April 22, 2022, was my lottery time. Many forego the hike because of its height and sheer drop-offs, but it is worth the effort if one can brave it.
As I blogged in my July 17, 2021 post after I traversed the Via Ferrata in Colorado, one of the coolest websites is River-Runner from the USGS, found at https://river-runner.samlearner.com. You can choose any spot in the United States, and it will show you how a drop of water travels through rivers to its final destination. Here is a screenshot of how water from Angel’s Landing in Utah ends up in the Colorado River. Some of the water enters aqueducts that supply water to OMWD and many other water agencies.
