January 9, 2025- Pipeline Upgrade Inspection
The recent devastating fires in LA underscore the critical need for a reliable water supply. Much of our water is imported, flowing through extensive pipelines managed by the San Diego County Water Authority, which distributes to retail agencies like the Olivenhain Water District, where I serve as a Director. Some of these pipelines were built in the 1950s. Today, water agency directors and staff toured a Water Authority project that inserts new pipes within the old ones. This method, costing only about a third of a complete replacement, not only saves money but also enhances the reliability of these pipes for many years to come. It's an impressive and forward-thinking project that promises significant long-term water reliability in our region.
