October 6- Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce- Camp Pendleton Tour
This week, I was privileged to tour Camp Pendleton through the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee. We got up close and met with active-duty Marine V-22 Osprey pilots, HIMARS, and M777 howitzer crews who serve, train and protect us daily. A special thanks to Deputy Commander Colonel Daniel Whitley and USO staff for hosting us.

September 22, 2023-Promoting Transparency and Accessibility in Public Meetings.
Promoting transparency and accessibility in public meetings is crucial for fostering trust and accountability in our communities. My OMWD board was one of the few water agencies that did not provide remote meeting access. In January 2023, I recommended staff explore live public streaming. My objective came true in August 2023 when the Board adopted my recommendation. Going forward, all OMWD public meetings are accessible through Zoom. Just go to the agenda for information and join!

Free Hydroponic Gardening Workshop August 24th
Hydroponic garden systems use up to 90% less water than traditional methods. It can allow for faster growth and higher yields. Since joining the District board, I have promoted hydroponic gardening. I am pleased to announce that Olivenhain Municipal Water District will present a free workshop introducing the benefits of hydroponic gardening systems.
The workshop will be held on August 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center at 8833 Harmony Grove Road in Escondido. Seating is Limited! To register for this event, visit www.olivenhain.com/events.

July 8, 2023-CONSERVATION REBATES AND INCENTIVES
While it was an unusually wet winter, we still need to conserve. Here in San Diego County, we rely a lot on water stored on the Colorado River at Lake Mead (Hoover Dam). While many Northern California reservoirs are full, as of today, Lake Mead is less than 32% full. More dry years will take us right back into the water trouble. Conservation remains very important. OMWD provides landscape and other water conservation rebates and incentives, as well as free water use evaluations. Take advantage of them! Here are two links:
